Stradbroke Island Indigenous tour – 18th September 2011
Left off from Chancelors Pl with the Bus (as always) and we were on our way to North Stradbroke Island a.k.a. ‘Straddie’ (well at least one stop in Cleveland to catch the Ferry). The Weather was just beautiful.
As soon as we arrived on ‘Straddie’ we met our Indigenous Guide for the day in Dunwich: Shane. After a short introduction about him and the history about ‘Straddie’ we met other Family members of Shane who told us a bit about Boomerangs at a footy-field. Afterwards we could create/paint on our own Boomerang and got a ‘How-to-throw-a-Boomerang-the right-way-and-let-it-return’ lesson (FUN FUN FUN). Questies + returning Boomerangs = heaps of bruises ^^!!!
After this Boomerang session we jumped back onto the Bus and we left for Point Lookout. Arriving at Point Lookout we had lunch and then headed off to do the amazing walk at the cliffs, enjoying the beautiful scenery of Straddie and….wooh…what’s that ? A whale!!! Yeah!! Oh look there a Turtle!!! Awesome!!! Our Tour guide Shane was telling us all these stories about ‘Straddie’ and heaps of ghost stories…yes you read it right….f***ing ghost stories and really scary ones, too.
The last hour at Point Lookout it was up to everyone else what they wanted to…so kids go play and have fun but be careful the Dropbears are out there so please stay at the beautiful beach and enjoy!! The water was freezing but awesome, this is Straddie just awesome. Well then it was 4 PM and we had to head back to the real world again.
Hope you all enjoyed it and until next time
