Boonoo Boonoo Camping Trip 23rd - 25th September 2011

Yeah (Extreme) Camping Weekend with QUEST!!!

Friday

Friday Morning we all met at Chancelors PL (Where else!) getting ready and leaving for Boonoo Boonoo National Park (meant to be Girraween but last minute change of plans). It was convoy of 3 Cars and a van: The ‘Raggaeton car’, the ‘Party van’, the ‘Presidents limousine’ and 4WD!!!

4 hours later and a few detours (due leaving the convoy and failure of communications on the walkie talkies ^^) we made a first stop in a little rural town name Tenterfield, NSW and getting lunch and buying some ‘Special-Needs’!!!  An hour later we were back on track and not shortly after we had to stop again due to a (controlled) Bush fire and had to wait for an escort vehicle! Well, we were getting bored so it was time for a footy and salsa dance session on the road (seriously!!!)!!!Shortly after, the escort vehicle arrived and we were driving closer to the camp site!!

Arriving at the camp site, the first thing we had to do was unload everything and put up are tents and minutes later a few Questies asked for the showers because they didn’t see any….nope…no showers around (Girraween had showers :-P), this was extreme camping!!!! As soon as the tents were up we all went down to the Platypus Creek for a swim before sunset!!! I tell you what…the water was f***ing cold, it was freezing but still a few went for a swim and even raced to the other side of the creek (crazy questies tztztz)!!!

It was Dinner time and the lovely exec cooked as some BBQ Chicken and snags on the barbies that were around!!! Mmmmhhh….wasn’t that delicious eating around the Bonfire! Oh yes we had a Bonfire…and guess what…also a Questie with a Guitar!!! Yeah buddy singing, chilling and drinking around the fire including Marshmallows like in the movies except  without  the crazy killer!!!

Saturday

Saturday it was all about activities in the bush! We formed two groups! One group who were willing to do an 8 hour hike and the other a rather much shorter one!!! The 8 hour group were walking mostly alongside Boonoo Boonoo River!! After a while the Group leader Umar for some reasons doubted that we were on the right track so he decided that we were going straight into the Bush without no tracks also known as Bush Bashing (the term "bush bashing" refers to hiking or biking through dense or difficult trails)!! Shortly after commencing this way of hiking a part of the group started a mutiny (finally some action)!!!!Well nobody got killed the group just split into two: one went further on and the others went back to the river and everyone was happy again.

After lunch, all groups met at the campsite again! All were relaxing, going for swim, driving over to Bold Rock for a hike or just for a short walk to a creepy old abandon house with two Buddha and one Ganesh stone heads and a room full of animal skulls! Back at the campsite it was Dinner time!!! Burgers and Snags (Hell Yeah!!!) around the Bonfire with our Guitarist Questie!!!! Well it seemed like that was boring after a while (Hey we did that the night before), so our South American (+Mexican) friends decided it was Salsa time!!! The car stereo turned up the salsa sounds and it was time for Salsa/Raggaeton lessons (‘shake your ass and change partners’) and afterwards it was just party time on the tables!!! What an awesome and interesting night….

Sunday
We all had to leave pretty early, so after Breakfast we had pack up everything and head back home with three stops at the Boonoo Boonoo Falls (beautiful scenery), Bold Rock (awesome view) and Stanthorpe for lunch (yummy)!
Well hope you all had fun
