Byron Bay Weekend Away Hooray– 2nd - 4th September
WOOOHHHOOO What a weekend in Byron!!!!
Friday
QUESTs weekend started on Friday early in the morning at 8:30 AM at the Chancelors Pl, about 100 half asleep party seeking international and exchange students were all ready to jump on the two buses towards an awesome weekend. The mood was good but still, there was an uncertainty because of the weather forecast (rain the whole weekend according to various weather websites). Whatever, sky was clear in Brisbane and three hours later and a short stop in Bangalow (so Questies could get something special) we arrived in Byron Bay (HELL YEAH)!
We couldn’t check into the Hostel yet, so the buses drove us up to the ‘Cape Byron Lighthouse’ which was located in the ‘Cape Byron State Conservation Park’…and guess what? The weather was freaking awesome, not one single cloud and the sun was just smiling at us!!! This was just too perfect, from the lighthouse you could see the beautiful sea called the Pacific Ocean including her inhabitants Tursiops truncatus and Megaptera novaeangliaea.k.a. Bottlenose dolphin and Humpback whale. The two buses were waiting somewhere downhill, so we had to walk all the way down where they were waiting, so we took the scenic route through the park, got to the most easterly point of Australia and enjoyed the beautiful beach.
2 PM and were at our Hostel and every Questie checked in to their designated rooms, and then Zeus had to ruin all our hopes and by letting the sky become cloudy and it started to rain. Well it didn’t bother much of the Questies, while some of them explored Cavvanbah/Byron Bay others stayed at the hostel and played ping pong, pool, video games or…..jumped into the nice and warm Jacuzzi!!!
6 PM, Dinner time at The Northern Hotel, it was Fish and Chips or a Beef Burger (yummy)!!!Afterwards everyone headed back to the hostel and socialised, played ‘friendship’ games and prepared for the night out!!!
9:30PM, it was Party time and all met at Cocomangas (local nightclub)! First off, to get into a dance mood, a member of UQ Dance and one of the Quest Exec had a dance off / battle! Well who won? see for your self :)
Afterwards the whole club was rocking!!! Yeah, these Questies indeed can rock the house until the club was shut.
Saturday
For a few Questies this day started pretty early (5 AM)!! A walk from the hostel to the Cape Byron Lighthouse to see the beautiful sunrise (well cloudy sunrise, was still beautiful though).
At 8:30 AM it was breakfast time (yeah heaps of pan cakes)!!! After that it was up to everyone else what they were doing (let’s say what Byron and the weather let them do), surfing, kayaking, skydiving, exploring town, sports on the beach, taking care of a lost dog name Ziggy (our unofficial Byron Mascot!!!!) and the Jacuzzi heater was broken (lame)!!!
Around 4 PM part of our beloved Exec took a bunch of Questies to the Byron Bay Brewery (quite interesting) and the other part of the Exec were so eager to jump into a warm Jacuzzi, they filled it up with buckets full of hot water out of the tap (yeah they’re smart aye :D )
8 PM, BBQ TIME and afterwards party rocking Byron again, Woodies and Cheeky Monkeys….Hell yeah what a night (….can anybody remember??)!!!
Sunday Well basically Breakfast and afterwards straight to the Beach because it was an f****n awesome weather. We were so happy to see that Sol was there!!!! The weather was so sunny until everyone got on the bus to Brisbane at 2 PM. I guess Byron just cried because we were leaving. On the way home nearly everyone was asleep because of the sickness named Byronus Exhaustus!!!!
Well that was Byron, read ya soon
